Steel, if you want it done right you gotta put in the time

So today was a very long day. my friend Norm is a Rock star, and fellow Capricorn! I had forgotten this little fact until he reminded me mid day. That probably helped make today a good day. I had some serious misconceptions about welding and the time it takes to really get stuff set up right. I do not have these issues any more. After a 14 hour day, I am certain it takes time to make things right. I am also certain my worktable is far from level, so lets all give thanks to Shims! In addition, I now know how to weld, though sadly, not very well. I did complete a small number of the actual beads on my structure, but Norm did 99{2bcc608746b8120fea6644f9ae3522f13f10aa6a77c573f716eef1394619f5d9} of the work. I think I was a good assistant today, fetching tools, lighters, beers, Burritos, you know, the essentials.

The Cage is built. The Slab’s platform is built. Now we have just a little bit more fabrication to complete, and the final pieces can be assembled and welded/bolted into place. I may have to invest in a Sawsall, and finish doing the cutting needed to put it all together. Its all figured out and I think we’re on a good path. IF this works, We’re golden. If not, well i may be doing some cement patchwork in the near future. I think it will, and I think Mobile pizza is near!

here’s a few photos of todays work.

Really enjoyed reading "Steel, if you want it done right you gotta put in the time", and the examples made the message feel very concrete. The part around sig figs practice really stood out to me. This fits well with Practice page for significant figures exercises.. Thanks for sharing this.
