Hello there, winter is almost upon us, but before it gets too rainy, Fist of Flour is going to be out and about in Oakland! We have several dates confirmed, and you should add these to your calendars now:
In the Courtyard at IMA
November 6th – Institute of Mosaic Art, 3001 Chapman St. across from the Ford Street studios in Jingletown. On this Saturday I’ll be setting up in their back courtyard, selling pizzas from 11 am till 3 pm, Feeding the days’ students and anyone else who walks on by. So if you live in the area and need a pizza fix, I’ll be there. the Courtyard is accessible from Chapman st. just past Derby. While you are there, take a tour of the facilities and check out current mosaic artworks by resident and visiting artists in the Gallery. IMA also sells everything you need for creating your own art in their Mosaic supply center, so come on down and get your winter project supplies! Friday November 19th, 7 pm, Inferno Gallery, Vulcan Studios – Come down to Inferno Gallery @ 4001 San Leandro St. for the opening reception of (A)partscape, video installation by Ren Dodge. Also, the Roll Up Bike Shop will be having a Skateboard Art show and trick demo afterwards. Fist of Four will be outside serving up Pizzas for hungry hipsters from 7 pm till we run out.
Saturday November 20th, 10 am – 2 pm, Laurel Community Farmer’s Market, 4173 MacArthur Blvd. (at Giant Burger Parking lot) Fist of Flour will be at the Laurel District’s up and coming Community Farmer’s Market. Featuring amazing organic, inexpensive produce from the central valley, hand-picked by the owner/operators. Hand-made pesto from Besto Pesto, Fresh and dried herbs from the Oakland Food Connection and yours truly serving up a seasonal menu of Fresh Hot Pizzas! Come on out and show me this is where I need to make my home!
And probably the last big event of my year: December 4th and 5th – Institute of Mosaic Art, 3001 Chapman St. across from the Ford Street studios in Jingletown. This weekend is the annual Jingletown Holiday Art Walk, and Fist of Flour will be there both days in the courtyard offering Pizzas for hungry art goers! More info on this event to come.
